The goldfinch is one of our most colourful birds with its red, white and black face and the yellow wing bands on the black wings. The goldfinch is slightly smaller than the house sparrow.
The goldfinch builds its nest at the top of a tall deciduous tree. The nest is very nicely woven together from blades of grass, roots and lined with wool from thistle plants or the like.
