A sloth is a medium-sized mammal that lives most of its life high up in the trees of the tropical rainforest of northern South America. Most of the time it just lies and relaxes in the treetops. And when it finally moves, it goes on very slowly. On the ground, the sloth can only crawl away at 250 meters per hour, so slowly that even a turtle can overtake it.
The sloth is omnivorous and feeds mainly on leaves and insects.
